PT Bio Farma (Persero) is a State Owned Enterprise, whose shares are entirely owned by the Government. Bio Farma is the only producer of international quality vaccine and anti sera for human beings in Indonesia. The production of vaccine and anti-sera are to support the national immunization program   in the framework of realizing a community of the Indonesian people with a higher quality of health.

The Company was set up with the name of “Parc Vaccinogene” on 6 August 1890, based on the Decree of the   Governor of the Netherlands Indies Number 14 of 1890 as published in State Gazette Number 163 of year 1890. It   had initially occupied a pavilion of the military hospital “Weltervreden”, Batavia. Now, it has been used as Central Army Hospital “Gatot Soebroto” (RSPAD Gatot Soebroto), Jakarta.

Bio Farma now operates in two different locations, namely on Jalan Pasteur No. 28 Bandung over an area of 91,058 square meters as the facilities for Production, Research & Development, Marketing and Administration, and at Cisarua, Lembang in the West Bandun Regency covering an area of 282,441 square meters for laboratory pet breeding and its upkeeping. To support its operation, the company also owns a representative office at Gedung Arthaloka 3rd floor on Jalan Sudirman No. 2, Jakarta.


Bio Farma has always been conducting innovations on various sectors, including production by referring to lates international standards and quality management system, for which the Company has been certified for its sound medicine production (CPOB) the Drug and Food Supervision Agency (BPOM), Quality Management System ISO 9001 : 2008, ISO 14001 : 2004, and OHSAS 18001 : 2007. Thanks to the hard work, high dedication and loyalty of its 900 employees Bio Farma has been able to be international-standard vaccine producer. Bio Farma hopes to be considered as a respected vaccine producer both at the national and international markets.


Vaccines produced by Bio Farma are used to prevent the spread of various communicable diseases such as Polio, Diphtheria, Tetanus (DT), Tetanus Diphtheria (Td), Diphtheria Tetanus Pertusis (DTP), DTP-BH, Measles, Hepatitis B, BCG, Flubio. Bio Farma’s vaccines are not only used  by the majority of Indonesian people but also million peoples in countries across the world. Bio Farma’s products have been exported to 110 countries. In addition, out of 200 vaccine companies around the world, Bio Farma is one of 23 companies holding WHO’s Pre-Qualification Certificates.
