Merak, Banten (ANTARA News) - PT Indonesia Ferry has put 25 roll-on-roll off boats into service to overcome a long line of trucks waiting to be ferried from Java to Sumatra at Merak port in Banten province.

In 1973, PT Indonesia Ferry (Persero) project named ASD Ferry and then turns into Perum ASDP in 1986 and subsequently in 1993 to PT ASDP (Persero). Shift of the status of a Limited Liability Company ASDP Perum mean that the pattern of his efforts are expected to compete with private companies or business entities other countries without leaving its function as a provider of pioneering crossing.

On August 5, 2008, witnessed by the Deputy Head of Business Logistics and Tourism Ministry of State Enterprises and Vice Chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission, PT Indonesia Ferry (Limited) signed an Integrity Pact implementation of structural changes that marked the beginning of a change the company name and logo of PT ASDP Indonesian Ferry (Limited) to PT Indonesia Ferry (Persero), redefinition of the vision and mission, affirmation main business, supporting business creation, revitalization and investment production equipment, the total restructuring and strategic business plan. All these are part of the implementation of business transformation program that is expected to change the position of PT Indonesia Ferry (Limited) became state-owned enterprises that can contribute to the country. "PT ASDP in Merak today operates 24 roros with the hope it could minimize queueing," operations manager of PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry, Merak Branch, Zailis Anas, said here on Saturday.

The line of trucks is entering the toll road as a lot of companies are delivering goods at the same time ahead of the Islamic fasting month.

A lot of private cars are also going to Sumatra ahead of the fasting month that would fall early in August, he said.

He said two days ago also 22 roro boats were operating increasing the number of queueing trucks.

A driver, Romi, said the queueing must be overcome immediately by the transportation ministry. "It has been very serious. The government must overcome this problem immediately," he said.

CUSTOMS OPERATION & LITIGATION OFFICER

In this function, you will be responsible to ensure the Company is complied with Customs regulations, ensure all the import & export goods are handled properly and meet all the Customs regulations requirements, minimize costs and maximize the use of any customs facilities for company benefits.

Reporting directly to the Customs Manager, the incumbent will also be responsible to:

  • Liaise with the user/ project owner, forwarding company and Customs authority for such import & export

  • Prepare, monitor, control the annual department budget to ensure expenditure is in line with the Business Plan
  • Take responsibility for providing and managing a work environment that is safe and without risk to health by ensuring OHS policy, plans, procedures, induction, training and work instructions are followed. Ensure that hazard management including identification, assessment and control are undertaken


To be successful for the above role, the ideal incumbent should have the following qualifications:

  • Holding a minimum of Bachelor degree (S1) in Economics or Business Administration area (preferably major in accounting)
  • Having a minimum of 3 years working experience in export-import area (international cross-border transaction) or forwarding company and at least two years experience in a senior financial role.
